Repetition
A repetition, or rep, is a single complete performance of an exercise movement.
Definition
A repetition — usually shortened to rep — is one full cycle of an exercise, such as a single squat, press-up or lift from start to finish. Reps are the basic counting unit of many workouts, and a group of them done back to back is called a set.
Training plans in the gym, in weightlifting and in bodyweight exercise are often written as a number of sets and reps, for example three sets of ten repetitions. Counting reps and sets is a simple way to structure a session and keep track of the work you have done.
