Capoeira
Where martial art, dance and music meet
Overview
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that blends sweeping kicks, dodges and acrobatic movement with music and rhythm. Players form a circle, or roda, and two people move together inside it in a flowing, game-like exchange set to live percussion and song.
It sits somewhere between martial art, dance and play, emphasising fluidity, timing and creativity as much as strength. Movements range from gentle and low to dynamic and acrobatic, so training scales with your ability, and learning under experienced instruction helps you build the technique safely.
