Even (constant-pace) splits.
The formula
Even splitting
split time = (total time ÷ distance) × split length
Source: Constant-pace model
What it means
- A pacing plan: hit each split and you finish on target.
- Even or slightly negative splits are the classic way to race distance events.
Limitations
- Real courses have hills, wind and crowds — treat splits as a guide, not a straitjacket.
Educational only
This is a deterministic tool: the same inputs always give the same result. It is for learning and planning, not a substitute for coaching or measurement.
